OVERVIEW
Freeman Spogli & Co. is a private equity firm focused on growth-oriented consumer and distribution companies with strong management teams. Based in Los Angeles and New York, their focus is on creating value within each of their transformative portfolio companies, ultimately increasing the size, profit, and competitive advantage of these companies.
Freeman Spogli & Co. needed a website that would make a statement to potential investors and take their online presence to the next level.
DISCOVERY
As one of the pioneering private equity firms in the country, Freeman Spogli was esteemed highly across the industry, but their website didn’t show it. They came to us needing to make some serious updates to their online presence to increase their relevance and appeal to the modern CEOs and CFOs of companies interested in partnering with them.
During our discovery phase, we set clear intentions. Since their old site that was not responsive for mobile devices, our number one goal was to create a presence that optimized the experience on both mobile devices and larger screens. Another goal was to structure their content in a way that told a story to their audience, so site visitors could understand their investment strategy and the portfolio of companies that they are currently partnered with.

UX STRATEGY
With our goals and intentions set, we moved into the UX strategy phase of the site. During this phase, we focused on what content should be on the site to tell Freeman Spogli’s story, and the layout of content across the site. Working page by page, we conducted a content audit of what was on their current site, and evaluated it against what their audience would be looking for while visiting their new site.
We also conducted a competitive audit during this time to ensure we had a good pulse on what competitors were doing. We collected inspiration from effective UX patterns we observed, and benchmarked where Freeman Spogli stood among the competition. These steps allowed us to put together a solid strategy before jumping into the build phase.
BUILD
Once our strategy was in place, it was time to implement our visual approach. Freeman Spogli had loose branding guidelines in place, which gave us the freedom to develop an online brand identity that was in alignment with the feelings they wanted their company to evoke. The font pair, color palette, and imagery styles were intentionally selected to portray Freeman Spogli as established, trusted, and in touch with their modern audience.
The new Freeman Spogli & Co. website was custom built on the .NET framework. The custom build ensured a faster site without bloat. We used the responsive Bootstrap framework to make sure the site would be optimized for both mobile devices and larger screens. As with all our sites, it was programmed to be SEO friendly in order to attract more organic traffic.
TEST & LAUNCH
Running the site through our thorough testing process, we wanted to make sure it was bulletproof and ready for launch. The new site was fully tested on multiple browsers, desktops, and mobile devices.
To prepare for the launch, we meticulously worked through our pre-launch checklist to ensure a smooth launch. We are currently hosting the new site for Freeman Spogli & Co., which guarantees 99.9% up-time for the website. After setting the site up on our server, we pointed the domain, and the site was live!
